Rosie’s Girl –
I was skeptical about the claims that Olaplex No. 3 could actually repair my damaged hair, or that it was worth $30 for such a small bottle – but IT ACTUALLY WORKS!
My fine, wavy/ curly hair was very damaged (especially the bangs and crown) from highlights and blow-drying/ straightening. After one treatment (which I left on for less than 10 mins), my hair felt a bit smoother. Second treatment (left on for full 10 mins), it was like a miracle had occurred! My hair went from frizzy straw-like texture to feeling actually SILKY! I’ve done a third treatment, and it’s getting even better. Definitely worth the $30. I’m adding this to my permanent hair care routine (along with Olaplex No. 4 & 5). If you have damaged hair, this product totally lives up to the hype.

This product is not real.
It has seriously damaged my hair costing a lot in hair dresses resulting in cut due to chemical reaction.
Was really suprised used twice as accordingly through instructions and each time worse.
When i took the bottle to my hairdresser she confirmed it was fake product.
Do not buy unless risk the damage left my hair.

I thought I’d write a review after reading some of the ones from others. This is NOT a conditioner. You will not feel a difference to your hair after leaving it on for 10 mins…or over night particularly. This treatment repairs bonds and strengthens hair. It’s not designed to leave it soft etc after one use.
I’ve nearly finished the bottle now which has been 5 treatments on bobbed hair. The sides of my hair were weak…broke easily and were thin. What I (And my hairdresser) have noticed is that the sides are fuller and thicker and I get less breakage. I do not use this to condition my hair as it’s not designed for that. If you are looking for a conditioner to treat damaged hair this is NOT for you. It will repair…not condition.

I have used this product around 3 times and I have noticed a real difference in my hair! Bouncier clumps of curls, less frizz and more days without having to refresh my curls or washing it bc now I don’t have to apply loads of each of my styling products trying to tame my mane. I was hesitant at first bc of the price for what I estimated is so little product but actually a little goes a long way with Olaplex no3, especially when you use a really good wet brush, I use the Ultimate Tangle Teezer, to detangle my hair while at the same time it distributes the No 3 pretty dang well throughout my hair. After treating my hair around 3 times I still have a little more than half the bottle. I might post before and after pics on my next wash day, if I remember. 😏

I have 2a/b gray/white/leftover auburn hair, and it is the most porous hair ever. I have read hundreds of articles, tried dozens of products, own dozens of products… and it’s been really hard figuring out why nothing works well.
I have Keranique, Kenra, Living Proof, and Nexxus products. I use marula and jojoba oils for internal hydration and external sealing. I have castor/caffeine scalp oil. I have Hair Maxx products. I take saw palmetto and hydrolized collagen…
…and even with braiding, sealing, scalp massages, satin pillowcases, and air drying instead of heat drying, by the third day after washing my hair, it starts to look like straw.
I have three pairs of high-quality shears, using one pair while the other is being sharpened, to trim split ends biweekly while I watch TV.
All of this has led to my being able to have hair past my shoulder blades, but at what cost?
After more reading, I bought this Olaplex 3 product, and I cannot believe the difference in the texture and moisture retention of my hair. I mean it. My hair has never felt like this. Its … smooth.
I dampen my hair, apply three teaspoons of the product, one after the other, as it absorbs, and then I put a grocery store produce bag on my head. Then I go about my day. A few hours later, I shower, rinsing the Olaplex 3 out, and then sparingly shampoo, condition, and post poo with Keranique and Living Proof products, finishing with the smallest amount of jojoba oil to seal. Then I wrap.
The next day, my hair feels like it’s not my hair. The softness isn’t from product: it’s from a hair shaft that has been sealed off and slides against the other hair.
Every time I use this product, the result is better.
I cannot stress enough that this product is a godsend for high porosity hair.
As to price, one $30 bottle lasts me seven to nine washings, and my hair is 24 inches long (but thin). I have taken pictures of my hair now and will update in six months.
It is worth the cost.

I bought Olaplex 1 and 2 as a stand alone treatment (my hair dresser also used it on me with a root bleach) and I bought number 3 to use separately alongside my conditioner and moisture treatments. I’ve never regretted buying a product more in my life.
I’ve had my hair bleached professionally for 15 years and never experienced more than a few split ends. After my hairdresser used 1 & 2 in my hair it initially felt amazing and looked really shiny. After a few days it started to snap quite a lot. The point of breakage was the part where the newly bleached hair joined the hair that was previously bleached.. the normal area of overlap.
I assumed that it was just because the stylist had gone up one level in bleach and I contacted Olaplex and they recommended that I keep using 1 & 2 as a stand alone treatment as well as number 3 regularly.
Over about 2 weeks I followed the instructions from the Olaplex rep. I must add that I followed the product instructions exactly and I also conditioned my hair with moisture thoroughly each time I used it to avoid drying.
Every time I used the Olaplex product my hair was snapping more and more.. it sounds stupid but it took me over two weeks to work out that the Olaplex was causing this. I sought out independent advice from a high end salon chain locally to me who offer Olaplex as a service. They advised that although the product is amazing for most people, it can have an adverse effect on a fair few people, even with virgin untreated hair.
Upon subsequent research I have read about hundreds of people who have had the same experience. It is as though the Olaplex fries your hair and leaves it like snapping burnt straw.
Since I stopped using it, my hair has stopped breaking. However I am left with short stubby sections of my hair in various places, mainly on the crown and in the parting. Personally I feel disgusting but I know my hair will grow and I will never use that product again. Using high moisture products since has helped with the overall condition but I can’t get the broken hair back.
The product is overpriced and over rated in my opinion. I would strongly recommend doing a test on your hair before using this product all over. If you buy it, test it on a section and wait a week or so to see if it starts snapping.

I bought this when I started bleaching my hair blonde to help mitigate the damage and keep it healthier. I wouldn’t exactly call this a miracle treatment – there is no noticeable difference in my hair immediately after using. It does make my hair feel very soft and smooth while I have it in but not after shampooing it out. I can say that my now platinum blonde hair doesn’t feel significantly damaged. I use this really more based on the hope that it works, and the fact that it does make my hair feel very healthy while it’s applied. Whether it really does anything, I can’t say for certain.
After seeing some claims that Amazon is selling a knock-off version of this product, I bought another bottle from Sephora (an official retailer of Olaplex products, while Amazon is not) to compare. The Sephora bottle has Canadian bilingual labelling, while the Amazon is only in English, so may be from another country. This is the only difference I noticed. They both had the same smell, colour and consistency, and felt the same in my hair.

I am really very sceptical when it comes to ‘miracles’. I don’t believe in ghosts, bleeding statues or everlasting buckets of KFC. I feel the same about miracle products, and that especially applies to anything purported by any YouTuber/Blogger/Shepherd, sorry I mean ‘Influencer’ as a miracle product. They get paid Uberbucks to say that you know. Don’t believe them! It’s newspeak, it’s all a LIE! Ahem …
Having got a bee in my bonnet about turning my 3b curl glossy brownblack (dyed) hair, caramel with dark roots and not wanting to pay £££ at a salon … Yeah I know, and you’re right this doesn’t end well … I decided that over the next week I was going to make the change. First of all I bleached to CARROT. It was a scary look, not least because I felt for the sake of my hair I had to leave it at least 24 hours until the next bleach. There were definite odd looks from passers by, possibly because they thought my head was on fire.
A second bleaching followed to BANANA. This was worse as my hair now felt like and was the colour of Hay. No matter what I did with it it looked like I had been styled by the Stygian witches.
I had a choice to make. Give in and return to brownblack, or plough on come what may. Needless to say I chose the latter.
A third bleaching at a lower strength on mid length and ends 24 hours later finally gave me the lemon yellow I needed to be able to tone it to a light caramel. By now my scalp was throwing in the towel. It hurt like a thousand angry bees decided my scalp was to blame for declining numbers.* So I decided to tone and soothe with a soothing toner. That took the lemon to a nice ashy blonde and the stinging to a barely there tightness.
I decided to live with this for a couple of days before ploughing on with my grand plan. Here I was 48 hours later ready to colour, gloves and highlighting brush at the ready (roll the whistling cowboy and ricochet sound effects). I started with a soft brown root … So far so good … Then onto the caramel, silver, and toffee on the mid lengths and ends. Aaaannnnd relax.
I cured, washed, and over night hair masked with my trusty coconut oil. It was exactly the colour I wanted. Sadly it was also the texture of bubblegum and or Hay, depending on where you touched. I won’t lie, I had a little tear and a large beer.
I googled for help.
The same thing kept coming up Olaplex number 3. Hmmmm it was fairly spendy so I ummed and ahhhed until I walked past the bathroom mirror and made myself jump.
I ordered it next day delivery. It came Sunday morning at 10am. I have shoulder length hair, fairly thick and I used half the bottle on dry hair. I clipped it up and left it until 7am Monday, showered it off, used my usual styling routine and air dried.
I couldn’t believe the difference. It looked AND felt exactly as it did pre bleaching marathon. I am going to be using the rest of the bottle as pre condition treatment. When it’s gone I’m ordering another. This is an absolute game changing product for me and I love it!
*this is an assumed parallel, not a scientifically proven parallel.

I first have to say, I don’t typically write reviews UNLESS the product blows me away, which is rare. To give you a little background about my hair. I had extremely HEALTHY, LONG, THICK blonde hair! It fell to the middle of my back, It was absolutely beautiful. I went to get it colored to give it a break from the highlights, I was going to change it to a strawberry blonde, which I have been many times before and other than blonde, its the only other color I like on me. When I went to the salon, they messed up the color. I ended up with hot pinkish, purple roots and a grayish auburn, mid-shaft to ends. I was in the salon that day for 7 and a half hours. They had to bleach my entire head and leave it on to get all of the screwed up colors out of my hair, resulting to EXTREME chemical damage and breakage. I went in with my hair being all one length to having bangs that were never even cut into my hair. My hair was destroyed and they had to take over 5inches off just to get the ends to LOOK healthy. My hair now sits on my shoulders and has broken pieces all over the top and mid section and all around my hair line. I have literally cried about this since it happened 5 weeks ago. It took me forever to get my hair exactly the way I wanted it and now I am starting over. My hair is no longer manageable, it is kinky and dry and looks it! The salon I had gone to was a new salon closer to where I moved. Prior to this salon I had been going to my original hairstylist for 15 years (I’m 30) so half of my life one person has touched my hair. I live two hours from her now so I decided to give a different salon a try and it was a mistake. I will now be driving 2 hours to go to her every 8 weeks. I texted her about 2 weeks after this all happened and she told me right away to order this product. I didn’t hesitate. I ordered it and received it the beginning of this week. I have used it twice so far and I will tell you what, after the first time I noticed a difference! I am excited to see after a couple months and using this 3 times a week (Extremely damaged hair should use it more than once a week). I also have been sleeping with it on over night which I notice gives me better results. This is not a conditioning treatment, so it does need to be shampooed out. I have a feeling this product will be what saves my hair. I will post before and after pictures once I actually do my hair so you can see the difference!
